Hawzah News Agency (Beirut, Lebanon) - The Union of Muslim Scholars in Lebanon issued a statement in which they condemned Israel’s plan to move the capital from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem al-Quds.
“Palestinians must continue their massive protests and interrupt the peace of Israeli settlers and their forces in occupied Palestinian territories. Palestinian people must try to prevent the process of Judaizing Jerusalem al-Quds.” The statement read.
It went on,” The Zionist Regime will not get engaged in serious military battles with Palestinian Resistance; since such move will increase the international community’s pressure on the US administration to back off from its decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Therefore, it’s best that Palestinian resistance forces intensify their fight against the Zionist Regime.”
The Union for Muslim Scholars further stressed, “The international community must take a strong unanimous stance against Trump’s al-Quds plan and condemn it in the United Nations’ Security Council, despite the fact that US government might veto any resolution against this plan. The international community must stress the fact that Jerusalem al-Quds will always remain the capital of Palestine.”
Lebanese clerics also condemned the recent terrorist attack on a church in Quetta, Pakistan in which several innocent people lost their lives; the clerics asserted that such inhumane attacks will cause discord within Muslim community and they will impede the fight against US-Israeli front.
“The terrorist groups have been established to serve the Zionist Regime and they want to pave the way for Trump’s al-Quds move.” The statement concluded.
It's noteworthy that on December 6, Trump made the controversial announcement in a speech at the White House, saying his administration would also begin the process of moving the American embassy in Tel Aviv to the holy city, which is expected to take years.
His decision provoked mass protests worldwide, with many leaders of Islamic countries harshly denouncing the US president.
